The upper layer of the thread on the bobin is dirty. Remove the top layer before embroidering.

At the plastic bobin about 2000-2500 meters.
Each spool has been used to some degree and so difficult to gauge length.

Remember - silk begins to shine even more if you iron the finished embroidery.
